Melanie South has qualified for the trip of a lifetime to play in the tennis.net sponsored Sunday Telegraph Junior Tennis Grand Prix Final in association with David Lloyd Leisure at the fabulous Boca Raton resort in Florida. The talented 13 year-old from New Malden qualified for the Final which starts on October 23, by gaining ranking points at junior tournaments held over the summer. She will now compete in the U14 age group final in Florida.
Melanie attends Nonsuch High School in Cheam and plays tennis at the Wimbledon Lakeside Club.
This year Melanie has her sights set on qualifying for the 14th Junior Orange Bowl event and the Eddie Herr and Price Cup, also in the States.
This year Melanie has won seven out of 10 finals played at U14 and U18 level, she was also the youngest player to qualify for the U18 National Finals this year and reached the second round.
She is coached by Lesley Charles, who has played at Wimbledon.
